| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE News Release Bicyclist Sustains Critical Injuries in Crash February 26, 2008 Louisiana State Police - Troop I is investigating a critical injury crash involving a car and bicycle on I-49 southbound frontage road near Carencro, in Lafayette Parish. Forty one year old Daniel Lambert of Lafayette, LA, was riding his bicycle, northbound on the shoulder of the I-49 frontage road. Seventy four year old Gilbert Lamperez of Broussard, LA, was also traveling northbound on the I-49 frontage road approaching the bicyclist from behind. For an unknown reason, Lambert moved left into the travel path of the northbound vehicle and was struck near the center line of the roadway.
