| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE News Release Motorcycle Crash Kills Sunset Man March 02, 2008 At 10:20 am this morning Louisiana State Police - Troop I responded to a two vehicle crash on LA 742 west of US 190. Upon arrival, troopers found the two vehicle crash had claimed the life of a motorcyclist and sent the driver of another vehicle to a local hospital with minor injuries. Fifty year old Roy Whipp of Sunset, LA was traveling east on LA 742, when he entered a curve. For unknown reasons Whipp crossed the center line in the curve and struck a westbound Chevrolet Impala head on. The Impala was driven by eighty four year old Elise Blanchard of Livonia, LA. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene and Blanchard was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the motorcycle was wearing an approved DOT helmet and alcohol is not believed to be a contributing factor in this crash. This is the ninth fatal crash and ninth fatality, Troop I has investigated thus far in 2008. “Alcohol or Drugs, Impairment is Impairment!
