| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE News Release Single Vehicle Crash Leaves One Dead and One Injured Update February 15, 2008 On February 14, 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a single vehicle crash on US 167 south of LA 106 which claimed the life of a Ville Platte man and sent an eight year old Ville Platte girl to a local hospital. Forty six year old Roland Fontenot of Ville Platte, La was traveling south on US 167 approaching a slight curve in the roadway. Fontenot traveled left of the center line traveling across the northbound travel lane and traveled onto the east shoulder of the roadway. Fontenot’s vehicle entered the ditch and struck the ditch embankment and overturned coming to rest on its roof. Fontenot was not restrained during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger in the vehicle, an eight year old female, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
