Multi Parish Safety Checkpoint
Results

February 15, 2008

Louisiana State Police Troop I conducted three separate checkpoints this week, within St. Mary, St. Martin and Acadia Parishes.

Troopers were aggressively looking for vehicles that were not insured and removed those vehicles from the roadway. Troopers were also looking for a number of other violations.

On February 12, 2008, troopers were in St. Mary Parish on LA 182, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. On February 13, 2008, troopers were in St. Martin Parish on LA 31 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. On February 14, 2008, troopers were in Acadia Parish on LA 35 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

Troopers issued a total of 123 citations and are described below

38 - Insurance Violations
38 - Plates Seized
21 – Motor Vehicle Inspection Violations
8 - Driver's License Violations
5 - Vehicle Registration Violations
1 - Passing School Bus Uploading Children
1 - Allowing an Unlicensed Person under 17 to Drive
1 - Notice of Change of Address
2 - Child Restraint Violations
2 - Seat Belt Violations
1 - Improper Display of License Plate
9 - Window Tint Violations
7 - Speeding
1 - Arrest for Operating a Motor Vehicle without Lawful Presence in the United States
26 - Violation Tickets

8- Vehicles were towed for no Insurance.


These checkpoints are not to generate citations. Louisiana State Police are more concerned with motorist voluntary complying with the Louisiana State Laws.
