Traffic Stop Leads to Murder Suspects’ Arrest

February 12, 2008

At 8:00 a.m., on Tuesday, February 12, 2008, Louisiana State Police, Troop I Criminal Patrols Unit stopped a late model Nissan truck for a moving violation. The initial traffic stop occurred on Interstate 10 (I-10) eastbound west of the Celia/Henderson exit in St. Martin Parish.

Upon talking to the driver, Allen St. Brice (B/M/Age 31) of Baytown, TX, the trooper noticed blood on the driver’s hands and clothing. The driver told the trooper he cut himself while changing a tire on his truck. The trooper noticed the tires on the truck showed no evidence of being changed. Also, the driver gave the trooper information about his travels that did not seem sensible. The blood on Mr. St. Brice’s person and the inconsistent story caused the trooper to call for assistance. When assistance arrived, Mr. St. Brice fled in his vehicle as troopers pursued. Once on the elevated portion of I-10, the driver threw a gun and magazine out of the window. With speeds reaching 90 miles per hour, the pursuit entered into the Louisiana State Police, Troop A area. Troopers then deployed a spike strip just east of the Whiskey Bay exit (milepost 129) which deflated the tires on the truck. The driver was taken into custody without further incident.

Louisiana State Police Detectives were called to the scene and further investigation revealed that the driver was wanted by Harris County Detectives in reference to a homicide and attempted homicide of two Harris County residents. Mr. St. Brice was booked into the Iberville Parish Jail and released to Harris County Detectives. Mr. St. Brice’s vehicle is being held at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for processing and the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office is attempting to locate the weapon believed to have been used in the homicide.
