Man In Critical Condition

January 31, 2008

Louisiana State Police Troop I, is investigating a single vehicle crash, which occurred around 2:00 a.m. this morning on I-10 westbound near mile marker 95.

Twenty three year old Aaron Richard of Rayne, La, was traveling westbound on I-10, when he abruptly swerved across both lanes of travel, causing the vehicle to rotate counterclockwise. The vehicle then entered the median and began to roll over several times, prior to coming to rest upright in the median. As the vehicle was rolling over it ejected twenty three year old Tyler Meche of Churchpoint, La. Meche was transported to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition. The driver and another passenger, twenty one year old Amy Leblanc of Churchpoint, La were also transported to local hospitals with moderate injuries.

Investigating troopers say none of the vehicle occupants were wearing seatbelts and alcohol is suspected to have played a roll in this crash. The driver Aaron Richard was charged with DWI 1st offense, Careless Operation, two counts of First Degree Vehicular Negligent Injuring.
