Their Efforts to Arrest Drug Dealers

In the past week Troop I arrested three individuals for being in possession of over seventy six pounds of cocaine and illegal weapons.

On January 21, 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop I Criminal Patrol Unit, made a traffic stop on a 2004 Nissan compact vehicle, when the driver was traveling eastbound on I-10 in the left travel lane, while going under the posted speed limit.

The driver forty Three year old Sharon Jackson of Buffalo, NY, told troopers, she was simply on her way home from Texas. Troopers spoke to Jackson further and noticed her story of who owned the vehicle, did not match the paperwork in the vehicle and troopers requested consent to search of the vehicle from Jackson. She refused to let troopers search the vehicle and a K-9 was brought in and alerted to the exterior of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed two compartments behind the seats. Each compartment contained several packages of cocaine and guns. The total weight of the cocaine was 75.92 pounds and had a street value of $576,000.00. Jackson was booked into the St. Martin Parish Jail for Restrictions on Driving in the Left Lane, Possession of Cocaine with the intent to distribute, Illegal Carrying of Weapons while in the Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance.


On January 28, 2008, Troopers made traffic stop on I-10 when the trooper observed a Ford Expedition make an unsafe lane change.

Troopers spoke to the driver twenty- three year old Tejeanne Anderson of New Orleans, La. Troopers also spoke to a passenger in the vehicle thirty one year old Dennis Hugle Jr. of New Orleans, La. Hugle was very nervous and his story did not match up with the driver’s story. Troopers requested consent to search the vehicle and was granted that permission by the driver. Troopers located two clear bags of powered cocaine in a diaper bag, only inches away from a six month old baby. Hugle and Anderson were booked into the St. Martin Parish Jail for Possession with the intent to distribute cocaine. The drugs had a street value of $11,000.00
