Edmonson, Superintendent Single Vehicle Crash Kills Teenager June 21, 2008 Louisiana State Police – Troop I is currently investigating a single vehicle fatal crash on US 90, within St. Mary Parish. Eighteen-year old Dontrelle Nicholas of Morgan City, La was operating a 1991 Chevrolet Truck west on US 90 near the St. Mary / Iberia Parish line, when the crash occurred. Nicholas drove onto the right shoulder then over corrected causing the truck to travel into the grass median and overturn. Nicholas was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. The St. Mary Parish Coroners Office pronounced Nicholas dead at the scene. A nineteen year old passenger in the vehicle Jamal Harvey of Morgan City, La, was also ejected from the vehicle and sustained minor injuries. Alcohol/drugs are not suspected to have been a contributing factor in this crash. This is the twenty-fifth fatal crash and the twenty-seventh fatality Troop I has investigated thus far in 2008. “Alcohol or Drugs, Impairment is Impairment!
