Lafayette Man Arrested for Child Pornography

Today, troopers with Louisiana State Police Region 2 detectives continued their aggressive stance against child predators. For a second day in a row, troopers arrested a man for possession of child pornography.

Troopers received information that indicated seventeen year old Caleb Peterson of 120 Hummingbird Lane Lafayette, LA, was in possession of child pornography. Troopers began investigating the information and were able to obtain evidence indicating that his computer was being used to download and store images and videos depicting child pornography. Troopers conducted surveillance and based on the evidence they gathered a search warrant was obtained.

Troopers, assisted by the Lafayette Police Department and agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, executed the search warrant at Peterson’s residence. Troopers discovered over 50 movies and numerous photographs depicting child sexual acts. The movies and images were stored on Peterson’s computer hard drive. Peterson was arrested and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for Possession of Child Pornography.

Troopers will continue to work to keep the children of our state safe by aggressively looking for and arresting anyone with the intention of sexually exploiting them. Troopers urge anyone with any information about persons engaged in the sexual exploitation of children to call 337-262-3341.
