Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I Press Release April 11, 2010 ***UPDATE*** Pedestrian Identified in Fatal Crash The pedestrian who was killed in a crash on US 90 Service Road near Penn Road in St. Mary Parish has been identified as fifty-two-year-old Danny Gautreaux of Patterson, LA. It is believed Gautreaux was walking from his vehicle which ran out of gas a short distance from where the crash occurred. This crash remains under investigation. Pedestrian Killed in Crash St. Mary Parish- Last night, troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a fatal crash on US 90 Service Road at Penn Road. According to investigating troopers, on April 10, 2010, shortly after 9:00 p.m., a pedestrian was walking eastbound in the westbound lanes of US 90 near Penn Road. Sixty-eight-year-old Amy Jackson was traveling westbound on the service road in a 2001 Ford Taurus. Jackson’s vehicle struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Mary Parish Coroner. Toxicology samples were obtained and have been submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The name of the pedestrian is being withheld until next of kin can be notified and the crash remains under investigation. Troopers remind pedestrians state law requires you walk on a sidewalk if provided. If no sidewalk is provided, you must walk against the flow of traffic on the shoulder.
