Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I Press Release Pedestrian Killed in Crash Maurice- Early this morning, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a fatal crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian. The crash occurred on LA 699 west of US 167 in Vermilion Parish. Killed in the crash was twenty-eight year old Anthony Baldridge of Abbeville, LA. Baldridge was killed when he was struck from behind by a passing vehicle. After impact, Baldridge came to rest in the roadway. Baldridge was pronounced dead at the scene by the Vermilion Parish Coroner. According to investigating troopers, on February 8, 2010, at shortly after 2:30 a.m., Baldridge and his brother were walking west on LA 699 in the roadway. A 1999 Chevrolet pick up, driven by thirty-two year old Ryan Simon, was traveling west on LA 699. Simon’s vehicle struck Baldridge from behind, resulting in his death. Simon was not injured in the crash. Initial blood alcohol sample indicated that Simon had a blood alcohol concentration of .216g%. Simon was arrested for DWI and booked in to the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center. Toxicology samples were taken from Baldridge and the results are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. This crash remains under investigation. This is the 8th fatal crash and the 8th fatality this year in the Troop I area. For More Information Contact: | |||
