Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I Press Release Alabama Man Killed in Crash Evangeline Parish- Yesterday, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a two vehicle fatal crash on LA 13 south of LA 374, that claimed the life of an Alabama man. Killed in the crash was sixty-one year old David Bollinger of Montgomery, AL. Bollinger was killed when the 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle he was operating, struck a vehicle that turned in front of him. Bollinger was ejected from his vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Evangeline Parish Coroner. According to the investigating troopers, on February 6, 2010 at about 1:30 pm, Bollinger was traveling north on LA 13. A 2000 Pontiac Grand Am, operated by seventy-four year old Genella Manuel of Eunice, LA, was traveling south on LA 13. Manuel failed to yield and turned into the path of Bollinger. Bollinger’s vehicle struck the side of Manuel’s vehicle. Both vehicles came to rest in the northbound lane of LA 13. Manuel was transported to a local area hospital with moderate injuries. Blood and urine samples were obtained from both drivers. The samples were sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab, where the toxicology results are pending.
