| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE Unrestrained Occupant Killed in Livingston Crash, Driver Impairment a Factor LIVINGSTON – Louisiana State Police Troop A investigated a single-vehicle fatal crash last night on LA 63 west of Renniger Road shortly before 12:30 am. Troopers’ investigation revealed Aimee White (W/F, age 33) of St. Amant was driving a 2008 Nissan Altima east on LA 63 when she ran off the road to the right. The vehicle began to rotate clockwise as it left the roadway and struck a culvert. It rolled and came to rest on its roof. White was properly restrained and suffered minor injuries. White’s passenger, John Thompson (W/M, age 44) of Walker, was not restrained and suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced Thompson deceased at the scene. Troopers suspected White was impaired and arrested her on the scene. Acadian Ambulance then transported her to Ochsner Hospital in Baton Rouge. Upon her release from the hospital, she will be booked into the Livingston Parish Jail on charges of Vehicular Homicide, DWI, Careless Operation, and Open Container. Troopers submitted a sample of White’s blood to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis. Louisiana State Troopers continue to see tragic injuries and deaths every day throughout the state on our roadways. The deadly combination of impaired drivers and lack of seat belt use continues to be a common factor in these injuries and deaths. Troopers will continue to enforce the state’s primary seat belt law in an effort to continue to increase seat belt usage throughout the state and will continue aggressive enforcement of Louisiana’s DWI laws.
