Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I Press Release For Immediate Release February 28, 2010 Unrestrained Driver Killed in Crash St. Landry Parish- Early this morning, troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a single vehicle crash on LA 742 near Fort Hamilton Rd. that claimed the life of a Texas man. Killed in the crash was twenty-seven year old Ulysses Taylor of Port Arthur, TX. Taylor was killed when the vehicle he was driving ran off the road and struck a tree. Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Landry Parish Coroner. According to investigating troopers, on February 28, 2010, shortly before 3:00 a.m., Taylor was traveling east on LA 742 in a 2003 Jaguar. Taylor failed to negotiate a left curve, ran off the road, traveled through a ditch and struck a tree. Taylor was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Toxicology samples were taken from Taylor and have been submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for results. The crash remains under investigation. For More Information Contact: | |||
