Suspect Arrested in Disturbance

Today, troopers with Louisiana State Police Region 2 detectives arrested Lisa Broussard in reference to a disturbance that occurred on March 15, 2010, at 153 Paulette Lane in Crowley.

During the investigation troopers learned that Broussard drove to her mother’s house which had burned in the early morning hours of March 15, 2010. When she arrived at the house she was approached by a relative, Rebecca Deville. Deville and Broussard got into a physical altercation while Broussard was still in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. Broussard’s vehicle was in reverse and during the altercation her foot came off of the brake causing the vehicle to travel backwards. Broussard’s vehicle traveled over Deville then Broussard left the area. Broussard was driving erratically as she left the area. She was subsequently stopped by a state fire marshal, who was at the scene, and detained.

Troopers found no evidence to support the fact that Broussard intentionally ran over Deville. They did however find evidence that indicated Broussard was negligent in her acts. Based on their findings, troopers obtained a warrant for Broussard’s arrest.

Shortly before 10:00 a.m. this morning, Broussard surrendered to troopers. She was booked into the Acadia Parish Correctional Center for one count of Reckless Operation and one count of Negligent Injuring. The case remains under investigation.

According to investigating troopers shortly before 1:00 p.m., Lisa Broussard (W/F 35years old) was involved in a disturbance at 153 Paulette St. in Crowley, LA. The initial investigation indicated that Broussard and relative of hers, Rebecca Deville (W/F 50 years old), got into an argument at the location. During the argument, Broussard attempted to leave the scene. When she was driving away Deville was struck by the 2007 GMC Yukon Broussard was operating. At the time of the incident, Broussard was employed as a deputy with the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office and is assigned to the 911 dispatch center. Broussard was off duty when the incident occurred. Due to the involvement of the deputy, the Acadia Parish Sheriff requested Louisiana State Police investigate this matter. The incident remains under investigation and charges are pending.
