Five Arrested for Insurance Fraud

St. Landry Parish- Today troopers with Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigation Division Region II Insurance Fraud Unit, arrested five people on charges ranging from felony theft to insurance fraud.

In September 2009, troopers obtained information from the Department of Insurance about a possible staged crash ring in St. Landry Parish. During the course of their investigation, troopers gathered information about a crash that occurred on a public roadway in St. Landry Parish. Troopers obtained evidence that indicated the crash was staged, and had not happened how the individuals involved claimed. Troopers discovered that five individuals claimed to be involved in the crash. Those individuals each filed a separate claim with the insurance company which totaled approximately $113,000.00. Based on the information troopers gathered, they secured arrest warrants for the individuals.

Early this morning troopers, assisted by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office and Opelousas Police Department, served the warrants on the following people:

Lora Nobles (W/F 40 years old) 388 Kennerson Rd. Opelousas, LA

Charlene Frame (W/F 47 years old) 256 Virginia Elizabeth Rd. Port Barre, LA
22:1925 Insurance Fraud

Moses Williams (B/M 58 years old) 5495 Railroad Ave. Opelousas, LA
22:1925 Insurance Fraud
14:67 Felony Theft

Elridge Tezano (B/M 46 years old) 610 Joseph St. Opelousas, LA
22:1925 Insurance Fraud
14:67 Felony Theft

Phil Fontenot (B/M 49 years old) 317 Lewis St. Opelousas, LA

All of the individuals were arrested without incident and booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail. This case remains under investigation.
