| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I News Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 8, 2010 COMMERCIAL VEHICLE COURTESY INSPECTIONS The Louisiana State Police / MCSAP / TESS / Region II Office will be conducting a courtesy inspection detail on Thursday, March 25th, 2010. Courtesy inspections will be held on North Polk Road at LA 35 in Rayne, Louisiana ( I-10 Exit 85 behind the Frog City Travel Plaza ) between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Troopers will conduct “Level 1” inspections on commercial vehicles in accordance with federal inspection standards. All noted violations will be issued warning notices ONLY and no driver or company will be fined. Any out of service violations noted must be repaired by the company before the equipment leaves the inspection site. Drivers will be provided with a copy of the inspection report. Vehicles that pass the inspection will receive federal CVSA decals. Participation by drivers and companies in the inspection process is strictly voluntary and Troopers will make every effort to answer all questions regarding state and federal motor carrier laws and regulations. This event is a continuing series of “FREE” courtesy inspections which are specifically aimed at assisting commercial carriers and giving truck drivers a better understanding of the laws and restrictions that govern commercial trucking. It is also designed to improve communications between law enforcement and industry. Trucking company safety representatives are strongly encouraged to attend.
