Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I- Press Release For Immediate Release March 12, 2010 ***UPDATE*** Driver Arrested in Connection With Fatal Crash Iberia Parish- Today troopers with Louisiana State Police arrested a New Iberia man in connection with a fatal crash that occurred on LA 182 near Charles Dr. in St. Martin Parish on January 9, 2010. Shortly after the crash occurred, troopers with State Police Region 2 Criminal Investigation Division began looking for the driver of the 2004 Ford truck. Troopers were able to obtain evidence that indicated the driver of the vehicle was twenty- three year old Willie Francisco of New Iberia. Based on the evidence obtained they were able to secure an arrest warrant for Francisco. With the assistance of troopers from Troop I, deputies with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office, and deputies with the U.S. Marshal’s Service, Francisco was arrested today without incident in the 500 block of Corinne St. in New Iberia. Francisco was booked into the Iberia Parish jail on the following charges: One count Reckless Operation One count Negligent Homicide Two counts Negligent Injury One count No Driver’s License Francisco is currently waiting to be moved to the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center. This case remains under investigation. January 10, 2010 New Iberia Man Dies as a Result of his Injuries St. Martin Parish- Today a New Iberia man succumbed to injuries sustained in a crash that occurred on January 9, 2010, on LA 182 in St. Martin Parish. Killed as a result of his injuries was nineteen year old Kamon Bob of New Iberia. Bob was the occupant of a vehicle that flipped on LA 182 near Charles Drive. Bob was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle. Bob was transported to a local area hospital where, he was pronounced dead today. Investigating troopers from Troop I found that a 2004 Ford truck was traveling east on LA 182 near Charles Dr. east of Broussard. The driver of the vehicle drove off of the right side of the road and entered the south ditch. The Ford rotated counterclockwise before it began to flip several times. Twenty two year old Herman Brown of New Iberia, Bob, and a sixteen year old juvenile were all unrestrained and were ejected from the vehicle. Brown is still in critical condition at a local area hospital. The juvenile was treated for minor injuries.
