Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I Press Release June 30, 2010 Seventeen Year Old Killed in Crash Today, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a three vehicle crash on LA 35 south of Kaplan that claimed the life of a 17-year-old Kaplan man. According to investigating troopers, on June 30, 2010, shortly after 5:00 p.m., a 1994 Chevrolet truck, driven by 17-year-old Joseph Eddington of Kaplan, was traveling south on LA 35 south of Kaplan. Eddington was approaching stopped traffic in the road and steered to the left, entering the northbound lane. Eddington’s vehicle struck a 1993 Dodge truck, driven by 33-year-old Bryan Boudreaux of Kaplan, head on. After impact, Eddington’s vehicle rotated and struck a 1998 Ford truck, driven by 19-year-old Mark Marceaux of Abbeville. Eddington was pronounced dead at the scene by the Vermilion Parish Coroner. Two 17-year-old passengers in his vehicle sustained only minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital. Boudreaux, and three juvenile passengers in his vehicle, sustained only minor injuries. Marceaux was not injured in the crash. Toxicology samples were taken from all three drivers and have been submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
