Loreauville Man Killed in Crash

Last night, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a single vehicle crash on LA 347 north of LA 86 that claimed the life of a Loreauville man.

According to investigating troopers, on July 9, 2010, at 10:46 p.m., a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am, driven by 36-year-old Christopher St. Julian of Loreauville, LA, was traveling south on LA 347. St. Julian failed to negotiate a left curve and ran into a ditch, struck a culvert, rotated, and came to rest on a private driveway. At the time of the crash, St. Julian was not wearing his seatbelt. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Martin Parish Coroner.

Toxicology samples were obtained from St. Julian and have been submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. This is the 36th fatal crash and the 39th fatality Troop I has investigated in 2010.

Troopers remind all persons traveling in a motor vehicle that the law requires you to wear your seatbelt. Wearing your seatbelt will greatly reduce your risk of injury in most crashes.
