Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I Press Release May 5, 2010 Crash Claims Life of Abbeville Man Intracostal City- Yesterday, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a single vehicle crash that claimed the life of an Abbeville man. According to investigating troopers, on May 5, 2010, at about 7:00 p.m., a 2002 Chevrolet SUV, driven by 36-year-old Carlos Ramirez of Abbeville, LA, was traveling north on LA 333 near Intracostal City. Ramirez failed to negotiate a left curve and traveled off the right side of the road. Ramirez over-steered to the left and back to the right. His vehicle traveled off of the road, rotated, and the left side of the vehicle struck a tree. After impact, the vehicle overturned and came to rest on its roof. Ramirez was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Vermilion Parish Coroner. Toxicology samples were taken from Ramirez and have been submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. This is the 25th fatal crash and the 27th fatality Troop I has investigated this year. For More Information Contact: | |||
