2010 Acadiana Safety Expo

Rayne- Saturday, Louisiana State Police Troop I will once again host the Acadiana Safety Expo. This year’s expo is expected to be the largest in years.

It will be held at the Rayne Civic Center pavilion on May 8, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Guests will be able to meet a large variety of emergency services personnel. This year’s expo will feature the Louisiana National Guard’s rock wall, a smokehouse from the Crowley Fire Department, and Acadian Ambulance will have a helicopter on hand for viewing. Louisiana State Police will have its SWAT equipment on display, a roll-over demonstration will be conducted, a bicycle safety course for kids and a free helmet while supplies last. It will also feature a “Fatal Vision” course. Visitors will be able to wear goggles that simulate impaired vision and they can drive a golf cart through a course to see the effects of impairment. There will be free food, drinks and ice cream while supplies last.

We will also have a web display to show the public how they can obtain crash reports online and other features of the Louisiana State Police website. Troopers will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about various laws.

The expo will also feature a child seat installation station. Anyone who travels with a small child may bring their car and seat and technicians will make sure it is properly installed. The child does not need to be present, but it is preferred.

Other agencies participating are the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries, Louisiana Highway Safety Commission, Lafayette Police Department, Lafayette Sheriff’s Office, Crowley Police Department, Rayne Police Department, Rayne Fire Department, St. Martin Sheriff’s Office, and Operation Lifesaver.
