Crash Claims Two Lives

Evangeline Parish- Today, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a two vehicle crash on LA 104 east of LA 29 that claimed the lives of two people.

According to investigating troopers, on May 14, 2010, at about 2:30 p.m., a 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by 43-year-old Douglas Aymond of Chataignier, LA, was traveling west on LA 104. A 2008 Ford truck, driven by 53-year-old Michael Doucet of Ville Platte, LA, was traveling east on LA 104. As Aymond was entering a right curve, he crossed the center line and struck Doucet’s vehicle head on. The motorcycle came to rest in a ditch and the truck came to rest on the road. After impact Aymond and his passenger, 40-year-old Lisa Rougeau of Eunice, LA, were ejected from the motorcycle.

Rougeau was pronounced dead at the scene by the Evangeline Parish Coroner. Aymond was transported to an area hospital by Air Med. Upon arrival at the hospital, Aymond was pronounced dead. Doucet and his passenger, David Doucet of Ville Platte, LA, sustained minor injuries and were taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Toxicology samples were taken from both drivers and have been submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. This is the 26th fatal crash Troop I has investigated in 2010.
