Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I Press Release June 16, 2010 Driver Succumbs to Injuries Sustained in Crash Today, Louisiana State Police Troop I learned that a driver involved in a two vehicle crash on I-10 westbound milepost 114, on June 13, 2010, died as a result of injuries he sustained in the crash. According to investigating troopers, on June 13, 2010, at 6:38 p.m., a 2007 Ford SUV driven by 47-year-old Linda Guidry of Scott, LA, was traveling west on I-10 at milepost 114 towing a pop-up camper. A 2005 GMC truck towing a boat, driven by 21-year-old Jonathan Daly of Lafayette, LA, was traveling behind Guidry. Daly struck the back of Guidry’s vehicle causing both vehicles to travel across the median and enter the eastbound lanes of I-10. Daly’s vehicle overturned and Daly, who was unrestrained, was ejected. His vehicle came to rest on the south shoulder of I-10 east. Guidry’s vehicle came to rest in the outside lane of I-10 eastbound. Guidry sustained minor injuries in the crash. She had 6 occupants in her vehicle all of whom sustained minor injuries in the crash. Daly sustained critical injuries in the crash, and was transported by Air-Med to a local hospital. A passenger in Daly’s vehicle sustained only minor injuries. Toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers and have been submitted to Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Today, Troop I was notified that Daly had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. This crash remains under investigation. This is the 32nd fatal crash and the 36th fatality in the Troop I area in 2010. For More Information Contact: | |||
