Edmonson, Superintendent St. Landry Parish Crash Claims Two Lives May 17, 2009 Troop I investigated a two-vehicle crash on LA 182 at US 167, which left a two people dead after a police pusuit. Troop I responded to the fatal crash on LA 182 at US 167 within St. Landry Parish at around 5:00pm yesterday evening. Twenty-three year old Blake Reine of Prairieville, La, was operating a 1990 Chevrolet truck north on LA 182, while fleeing from the Opelousas Police Department, for a Hit and Run Crash, which he had just been involved. Reine failed to stop for the traffic control and entered the intersection against a red traffic signal. Reine struck a northbound vehicle broadside on US 167, driven by forty-eight year old Lee Campbell of Ville Platte, La. Campbell and passenger in the Reine vehicle, thirty-six year old Jody Reine of St. Amant, La, Both died from injuries sustained in the crash. Blake Reine was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. Reine will be charged with two counts of Vehicular Homicide, Operating A Vehicle While Intoxicated, Reckless Operation Of A Vehicle, Flight From An Officer, Running A Red Light, Operating a Vehicle W/License Suspended and No Seat Belt. This is the twenty-fourth fatal crash and twenty-ninth fatality Troop I has investigated thus far in 2009. “Alcohol or Drugs, Impairment is Impairment!
