Louisiana State Police – Troop I investigated a two vehicle fatal crash on I-10, within Lafayette Parish.

The fatal crash occurred at around 2:00 am this morning, on I-10 westbound just east of Louisiana Avenue. Thirty-three year old Joseph W. Young of Crowley, La, was operating a 2007 Harley Davidson west on I-10, when for unknown reasons traveled off the left side of the roadway. Investigators, say Young struck a guardrail and was ejected from the motorcycle. Young, landed in the left inside travel lane on I-10 and was struck by a westbound truck driven by fifty-one year old Barry Trumps of Crowley, La. The Lafayette Parish Coroners Office pronounced Young dead at the scene.

This is the Thirty-third fatal crash and the thirty-ninth fatality Troop I has investigated thus far in 2009.
