| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent Fatal Crash Kills A Grandmother And Injures Two Grandchildren March 1, 2009 Louisiana State Police – Troop I investigated a two vehicle fatal crash on LA 104 within St. Landry Parish, which claimed the life of a grandmother and left two grandchildren hospitalized. The two vehicle head-on collision occurred around 12:30pm today on LA 104 east of LA 3043. Forty-six year old Rozana Saucier of West Monroe, La, was operating a 1997 Kia Sophia, east on LA 104, when for unknown reasons crossed the center line and struck a westbound 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by forty-eight year old Catherine Soileau, of Mamou, La. Saucier was pronounced dead at the scene. Saucier’s two grandchildren, three and five years old were riding in the front passenger seat of the vehicle and were both in the same seatbelt. Both children were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Soileau and a passenger in the Tahoe were transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. It is unknown at this time if alcohol/drugs were a factor in this crash. Test results are pending at the LSP Crime Lab. Louisiana State Police remind you the safest place in the vehicle is in the rear seat. The law also requires that children must be properly restrained in a size and age appropriate child restraint. “Alcohol or Drugs, Impairment is Impairment!
