Edmonson, Superintendent Evangeline Parish Crash Claims One Life February 25, 2009 Louisiana State Police –Troop I investigated a single vehicle fatal crash, which claimed the life of an Evangeline Parish resident and injured two juveniles. The crash occurred around 5:00 pm yesterday, on LA 106 near Bayou Chicot. Forty-nine year old Christopher Armand of St. Landry, La, was operating a 2002 Chevrolet truck east on LA 106, when for unknown reasons, Armand drove off the right side of the roadway. Armand steered left returning to the traveled portion of the roadway then over corrected causing the vehicle to rotate counterclockwise. The truck then traveled off the north side of the roadway and into a ditch striking a tree. Armand was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the crash and test results are pending at the LSP Crime Lab. Two juveniles were transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. Troop I has investigated eleven fatal crashes, which has resulted in fourteen fatalities thus far I 2009. “Alcohol or Drugs, Impairment is Impairment!
