Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP I- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: September 10, 2009 Single Vehicle Crash in Acadia Parish Kills One; Injures Others A single vehicle crash shortly after 2:00 AM this morning in Acadia Parish claimed the life of its driver, and injured four other passengers. A 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck, driven by William M. Hensgens (male, 27, of Crowley, LA) was westbound on LA 92 west of LA 13 when it went off the roadway to the right. The Chevrolet entered a ditch, struck an embankment, and overturned. Hensgens was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected as the vehicle overturned. The Chevrolet came to rest on its roof on top of the driver. Hensgens was pronounced dead on the scene by the Acadia Parish Coroner’s Office. There were four passengers in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Ross G. Thibodeaux (male, 25, of Midland, LA) and Kenneth M. Habetz Jr. (male, 26, of Crowley, LA) sustained minor injuries. Shelby Watson (female, 19, of Madisonville, LA) and Jeanne M. Maraist (female, 20, of Lafayette, LA) both sustained moderate injuries and were transported to Crowley-American Legion Hospital. At this time, it is unknown whether or not the four passengers were restrained during the crash. None of the passengers were ejected during the crash. Alcohol/drug use is unknown pending toxicology results from the Acadia Coroner’s Office. This crash occurred on Thursday, September 10, 2009, at approximately 2:12 AM. Tpr.
