Edmonson, Superintendent Troop I- Press Release January 1, 2010 Jeanerette Man Killed in New Year’s Eve Crash New Iberia- Last night Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a fatal crash that took the life of a Jeanerette man. Killed in the crash was forty one year old Jacques Stevens Jr. Stevens was walking in the road and was killed when he was struck by a vehicle. Stevens was pronounced dead at the scene by the Iberia Parish Coroner. According to investigators from Troop I, on December 31, 2009 at 8:35 pm, a 1996 Dodge, driven by forty year old Amy Borne, was traveling west on the US 90 Lewis St. off ramp. Stevens was walking in the road and was struck by Borne’s vehicle. Borne was transported to a local area hospital with moderate injuries. Toxicology results for both drivers are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. The crash remains under investigation.
