Edmonson, Superintendent October 24, 2009 Pedestrian Killed in Hit and Run Crash Iberia Parish- A pedestrian was found deceased this morning shortly after 8:00 am, on LA 85 near milepost 5.7, from an apparent hit and run crash. Killed in the crash was fifty-nine year old Russel Lewis. Lewis was walking south on LA 85 wearing a dark jacket. An unknown vehicle was traveling south on LA 85 and struck Lewis, causing him to be knocked into the ditch. After hitting Lewis, the vehicle fled the scene. Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene by the Iberia Parish Corner. Troopers investigating the crash say it occurred sometime last night, and the body was not found until this morning. State Police recovered pieces of the vehicle at the scene. The suspect vehicle they are looking for should be a molten red 2005 or newer Dodge Durango or Dakota truck. The vehicle they are looking for is missing a passenger side headlight, and should have damage to the passenger side of the vehicle.
