Edmonson, Superintendent October 29, 2009 Well Blowout Near Melville Melville- Shortly after 11:00 today, Louisiana State Police-Troop I was notified of a well blowout on LA 105 north of the Town of Melville. Personnel with Louisiana State Police, St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, Department of Environmental Quality, St. Landry Office of Homeland Security, Melville Police Department, and the Melville Fire Department responded to the scene. As a safety precaution, personnel evacuated four homes in the area, and LA 105 was closed approximately one mile north and south of the incident. At about 1:30 this afternoon, the well capped itself and the area was deemed safe. People were allowed to return to their homes, and LA 105 was reopened. For more information contact: | |||
