Edmonson, Superintendent November 4, 2009 New Iberia Man in Critical Condition After Crash Vermilion Parish- A New Iberia man is in critical condition this evening after he lost control of the motorcycle he was driving on LA 685 near Elita Rd. Investigating troopers from Troop I said that shortly before 6:00 pm, forty-four year old Necess Melancon, of New Iberia, was traveling north on LA 685, on a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Melancon was approaching a curve in the road, when he failed to negotiate the curve, and traveled off the roadway to the right. Melancon, who was wearing his helmet at the time of the crash, was ejected from the motorcycle. As a result of the crash, Melancon sustained severe injuries.
