TROOP I NEWS RELEASE I-10 Crash Claims Life of Motorcyclist in Acadia Parish The preliminary investigation revealed Walters was traveling east on Interstate 10 on a 2011 Harley Davidson. For unknown reasons, the rear tire deflated and Walters lost control. He was ejected off of the motorcycle and sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Walters was wearing a DOT approved helmet at the time of the crash. Walters was pronounced dead at the scene by Acadia Parish Coroner’s Office. Impairment is not suspected but standard toxicology reports are pending. This crash remains under investigation. Troopers would like to remind motorists to be aware of your surroundings when traveling on the road. Motorcyclists must wear a proper US DOT approved helmet when riding their motorcycle on Louisiana roadways. Although not all crashes are survivable, properly utilizing safety equipment like approved motorcycle helmets and seatbelts can decrease your risk of serious injury or death.
