TROOP I NEWS RELEASE Driver Killed in Single Vehicle Crash in St. Landry Parish St. Landry Parish – Shortly before 4:00 pm on November 4, 2018, Troop I was notified of a fatal crash on LA Hwy 105 north of US Hwy 190. The crash claimed the life of 45-year-old Jason Ryder of Krotz Springs. The preliminary investigation revealed Ryder was driving a 2001 GMC Sierra southbound on LA Hwy 105 and for unknown reasons ran off of the right side of the roadway. The vehicle entered a ditch, overturned, and struck a private driveway before coming to rest upside down. Despite Ryder being properly restrained, he sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Landry Parish Coroner’s Office. Impairment is unknown at this time, but routine toxicology tests are pending. This crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind motorists that while not every crash is survivable, despite even the best safety measures, wearing your seat belt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain properly buckled up. Not wearing a seat belt remains the leading cause of death in motor vehicle crashes. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!” Contact Information: | |||
