TROOP I NEWS RELEASE July 26, 2018 Iota Man Killed in Early Morning Crash Acadia – Shortly before 5:30 am on July 26, 2018, Troop I was notified of a fatal crash on LA 100 east of LA 3070. The crash claimed the life of 31-year-old Anthony Leger of Iota. The preliminary investigation revealed 18-year-old Hayden Adams of Crowley was operating a 2001 Toyota Tacoma eastbound on LA 100. At the same time, Leger was cycling eastbound in the westbound lane of LA 100. While traveling east, Adams crossed into the westbound lane (in a legal passing zone) and began to pass eastbound vehicles. While in the process of passing a vehicle, the Tacoma struck the bicycle which Leger was operating. Leger sustained critical injuries and was transported to Acadia General Hospital in Crowley where he was later pronounced dead. Adams was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. He voluntarily submitted to a chemical test and Troopers determined he was not impaired. A standard toxicology sample was obtained from Leger and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. Contact Information: | |||
