| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE Two Baton Rouge Men Dead After Fatal Crash BATON ROUGE- At approximately 4:30 am on Sunday, September 27, 2009, Louisiana State Police Troop A investigated a fatal crash involving one vehicle on US Hwy 190 westbound near the base of the Old Mississippi River Bridge. A 2007 Ford Mustang, driven by Ricky E. Andrews (B/M, 44 years old from Baton Rouge), was traveling westbound on US 190 approaching the Old Mississippi River Bridge. Andrews lost control of his vehicle on the approach to the bridge and ran off the roadway to the right due to his high rate of speed. The Mustang began to rotate in a clockwise direction as it left the roadway and then struck an oak tree at the driver’s side door. The resulting impact with the tree caused the Mustang to split in half, killing both the driver and passenger. The passenger was identified as Coda Taraz Tolbert, Jr (B/M, 40 years old from Baton Rouge). Both occupants were wearing their seat belts. Alcohol use by the driver is unknown at this time; however, blood was taken from the driver and will be submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis. Speed is considered a factor in this crash. Contact Information: Sgt. Markus L.
