21-Year-Old Driver Killed in St. Landry Parish Crash

Opelousas – Shortly after 2:30 pm on June 23, 2019, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a single vehicle fatality crash on LA Hwy 167 near Bellridge Rd. in St. Landry Parish. The crash took the life of 21-year-old Qiana S. Orville of Opelousas.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Orville was driving a 2002 Toyota Sequoia northbound on LA Hwy 167. For unknown reasons, as Orville entered a curve to the left the vehicle traveled off the roadway to the right and struck a tree. Despite the fact that she was properly restrained, Orville suffered fatal injuries. Impairment is unknown at this time, but standard toxicology samples were obtained for analysis. This crash remains under investigation, and there is no further information at this time.

Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive while impaired, fatigued, or distracted, always ensure every occupant is properly restrained, and follow all traffic laws. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.
