TROOP I NEWS RELEASE Driver Succumbs to Injuries in Iberia Parish Crash New Iberia – Shortly after 7:00 pm on June 2, 2019, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a single vehicle injury crash on LA Hwy 674 near Blanchard Rd. in Iberia Parish. The crash ultimately took the life of 52-year-old Delcenia Reyes of Salinas, CA. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Reyes was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo eastbound on LA Hwy 674. For unknown reasons, as Reyes entered a curve to the left, the vehicle traveled off the roadway to the right and began to overturn. Reyes was not properly restrained, and suffered severe injuries. On June 24, 2019, troopers with Louisiana State Police were notified that Reyes succumbed to her injuries. Impairment is unknown at this time, but standard toxicology samples were obtained for analysis. This crash remains under investigation, and there is no further information at this time. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive while impaired, fatigued, or distracted, always ensure every occupant is properly restrained, and follow all traffic laws.
