Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE I-12 Traffic Stop Leads to Discovery of 100 Pounds of Marijuana BATON ROUGE – Yesterday, April 21, at approximately 3:00 p.m., State Police conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 12 that led to the discovery of 100 pounds of marijuana and the arrest of two Ohio men. A Trooper stopped a 2008 Chevrolet Impala for Improper Lane Usage on I-12 eastbound near LA 43. The driver, Shakoor Fahim (B/M, age 36), and his passenger, Marvin Keyes (B/M, age 51), both from Ohio, gave conflicting statements on their travel itinerary. The Trooper became suspicious, obtained consent to search the vehicle from the driver, and found approximately 100 pounds of marijuana concealed in three suitcases in the vehicle. Fahim and Keyes had over $3,000 cash on them. Troopers seized the contraband and vehicle and booked both subjects into the Livingston Parish Jail on charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana. Contact Information: Tpr Russell G.
