| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE Alcohol Believed to be Factor in Fatal Motorcycle Crash BATON ROUGE – A motorcycle crashed claimed the life of a Geismar man on LA 73 near Cornerview Road in Geismar last night shortly after midnight. Dwight T. Scott (B/M, age 50) was riding his Honda Goldwing north on LA 73, approaching Cornerview Road (LA 429), when he crossed the center line and ran off the road to the left. Scott re-entered the roadway, lost control of the motorcycle, and fell to the pavement. Acadian Ambulance transported Scott to St. Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries. St. Elizabeth staff pronounced Scott deceased at the hospital. Alcohol is suspected to have been a factor in the crash; and State Troopers have submitted blood and urine samples to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Scott was wearing a helmet when the crash occurred. However, the helmet was not DOT-approved. Drinking and driving is a deadly combination, and Troopers will continue to aggressively enforce the state’s DWI laws. Louisiana State Troopers see these senseless, tragic crashes occur all too often; and they will continue to work hard through enforcement and education to keep impaired drivers off the roadways. If you see a reckless or possibly impaired driver on the road at any time, you can report this by dialing *LSP from your cellular phone. Contact Information: Tpr Russell G.
