Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE Arrest Made in Hit and Run Fatal Crash, Still Under Investigation UPDATE: State Troopers have arrested Adam R. Orellana (Male, age 23) of Baton Rouge and charged him with Felony Hit and Run, Obstruction of Justice, Driving Under Suspension, and Driving with no Insurance after a week-long investigation of the fatal Hit and Run Crash that occurred on May 5. On Wednesday, May 13, 2009, an anonymous caller contacted Iberville Sheriff’s Department and gave the location of a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle involved in the Hit and Run that killed Hutton early last week. Troopers responded to the location, an apartment complex located at 445 Cloud Street in Baton Rouge, and located a vehicle with damage consistent with the events of the crash. Troopers spoke to Orellana, who was the registered owner of the vehicle, and his girlfriend, Tabitha Luquette at Orellana’s residence. Orellana and Luquette agreed to go to Troop A for further questioning about the Hit and Run Crash. During the investigation, Orellana confessed to being the driver involved in the crash. Troopers arrested Orellana and booked him into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Troopers also took the vehicle, a 2000 Ford Explorer, to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for forensic analysis. The caller said that he had seen the story about the Hit and Run on the news and noticed that the Ford Explorer fit the description given out by Louisiana State Police. UPDATE: Forensic analysis performed by the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab has determined that the suspect vehicle is a 1998 to 2001 model Ford Explorer Sport (2-door) SUV. The vehicle had all terrain tires, a broken headlamp, and other front-end damage. Please call Louisiana State Police Troop A with any information at 225-754-8500. BATON ROUGE – Louisiana State Police Troop A is investigating a hit and run fatal crash that occurred on LA 942 at US 61 in East Baton Rouge Parish yesterday evening. Just before 7:00 p.m. on May 5, Roy L. Hutton (B/M, age 52) of Greensburg, LA was standing near the fog line on LA 964 when he was struck by a vehicle traveling south on LA 964 at US 61. According to his brother, Adrian Hutton, the two were traveling on LA 964 when some papers flew out of the window of their car. The brother said that they had stopped to pick up the paperwork when the passing vehicle struck Hutton. Roy Hutton was pronounced deceased on the scene by the East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office. The Louisiana State Police Crime Lab was dispatched to the scene for crime scene processing. State Troopers suspect the vehicle to be a white GMC SUV with all terrain tires, a broken headlamp, and an unknown degree of front-end damage.
