Two-Vehicle Crash in Acadia Parish Leaves Motorcyclist Dead

Acadia Parish – On January 22, 2021, shortly after 1:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop I was notified of a two-vehicle fatality crash involving a motorcycle on Louisiana Highway 95 at General Lane in Acadia Parish. The crash claimed the life of 21-year-old Brent Allen Miller of Lafayette.

The initial investigation revealed Miller was operating a 2020 Harley-Davidson motorcycle south on La 95. At the same time a northbound 2017 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by 28-year-old Meredith Breaux of Rayne, turned left onto General Lane in front of Miller causing the motorcycle to strike the Suburban.

Despite wearing a DOT approved helmet, Miller suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Breaux was properly restrained and was not injured.

Impairment is not suspected and the crash remains under investigation.

Motorcycles are smaller than other vehicles and are more difficult to see. Drivers are asked to pay attention behind the wheel and to always watch for motorcycles.

Troop I has investigated 4 fatal crashes resulting in 5 deaths in 2021.
