Troop I – This past weekend Louisiana State Troopers arrested three individuals for various narcotics related charges. The arrests came after Troopers stopped two separate vehicles on I-10 in the Troop I area. Both traffic stops yielded several pounds of illegal narcotics.

Shortly after 6:00 am on Saturday, July 18, 2015, Troopers stopped a 2009 Mitsubishi Galant (driven by 37 year old Alax Trigo of Houston, TX) on I-10 eastbound near Duson for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, Troopers requested permission from Trigo to search the vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle Troopers located nearly 124 pounds of marijuana.

Trigo was arrested and booked into the Acadia Parish Jail for Improper Lane Usage, No Driver’s License, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana.

On Sunday, July 19, 2015, Troopers stopped a 2007 Mercedes (driven by 23 year old Tyler Hobbs of Houston, TX) on Interstate 10 in Lafayette Parish shortly after 5:30 am. During the stop, Troopers questioned Hobbs and his passenger (23 year old Marques Jones of Humble, TX). Troopers requested permission from Hobbs to search the vehicle. During the search of the vehicle Troopers located nearly 1,350 Ecstasy (MDMA) pills, 1,000 Xanax pills and four pints of Promethazine Syrup.

Both Hobbs and Jones were placed under arrest and booked into the Lafayette Parish jail for Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I and Schedule IV Narcotics, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Promethazine.

Louisiana State Troopers will continue to provide the citizens of Louisiana a safer community through proactive drug related enforcement and cooperative efforts with local and federal law enforcement agencies. Troopers will target local and multi-state drug trafficking organizations by enforcing all state and federal laws governing the illicit manufacturing, distribution, sale, and use of drugs.
