TROOP I NEWS RELEASE May 19, 2015 Broussard Man Dies in Three Vehicle Crash St. Martin Parish – Shortly after 10:37 a.m. this morning, Louisiana State Police Troop I responded to a three vehicle fatality crash on LA Highway 96, near Windy Hill Road. The crash claimed the life of 69 year old Marvin Deselles of Broussard. The preliminary investigation revealed 24 year old Klifford Moss Jr. of Lafayette, was operating a 2013 Nissan Altima west on LA Highway 96 near Windy Hills Road. Moss was following behind a Chrysler 300 passenger car and a pick-up truck. Moss drove across the centerline in an attempt to pass the Chrysler 300 and pick-up truck. When Moss entered the eastbound lane of travel, his vehicle struck a 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle head on in the eastbound lane. The Harley Davidson was being operated by 69 year old Marvin Deselles of Broussard. After Impact, Deselles was ejected off of the motorcycle into the path of the Chrysler 300. Preliminary investigation revealed the Chrysler 300 rolled over Deselles and continued traveling west on LA Highway 96. Deselles was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Martin Parish Coroner’s Office. Moss was given a chemical breath test and is suspected of being impaired. Routine toxicology samples were taken from Deselles and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Moss was arrested and transported to the St. Martin Parish Jail where he was booked on the following: Vehicular Homicide, Operating a Vehicle with a Suspended License, Limitations on Passing on the Left and Expired Inspection Sticker. Troopers are still looking for the Chrysler 300 involved in the crash. If anyone has any information on this vehicle, they are encouraged to call Louisiana State Police Troop I at (337) 262-5880. This crash remains under investigation. Whether impaired through alcohol, drugs, or a combination of the two, the consequences of driving while impaired remain the same. Making poor decisions in a vehicle leads to serious injuries and deaths every day across the state. Making the responsible decision can mean the difference between life and death.
