TROOP I NEWS RELEASE June 13, 2015 ****UPDATE**** Troopers Make Arrests in Fatal Hit and Run St. Mary Parish – Troopers have continued to investigate the hit and run crash since March 13th. Evidence left on scene led Troopers to believe that one of the vehicles that struck Sedotal was a Dodge Ram truck. Through numerous tips and leads, Troopers began questioning 46 year old Brian Timken of New Iberia. Troopers determined Timken was driving the Dodge Ram truck that struck Sedotal. After impact, Timken left the scene of the crash. Troopers also determined that sometime after Timken struck Sedotal, 25 year old Kayla Norris of Franklin was driving a 1996 Mercury Sable and also struck Sedotal in the roadway. Norris did not stop at the time of the crash. On June 13, 2015 Troopers arrested Timken on Hit and Run and Obstruction of Justice. Troopers also arrested Norris for Hit and Run. Both Timken and Norris were transported to the St. Mary Parish Jail and booked without incident. . March 13, 2015 Troopers Investigating Hit and Run Fatality St. Mary Parish – Shortly after 1:00 a.m. this morning, Louisiana State Police Troop I was notified of a fatality crash on LA 182 east of Jeanerette. Preliminary investigation revealed 33 year old Kista L. Sedotal of Jeanerette was walking on LA highway 182 and was struck by a westbound pickup truck. After the pickup truck struck Sedotal, it fled the scene traveling west on LA Highway 182. Sedotal was pronounced dead on scene by the St. Mary Parish Coroner’s Office. Troopers recovered a front right headlight assembly belonging to a Dodge Ram 1500 truck. The Dodge Ram is believed to be white or silver. More evidence is being collected and this case remains active. Troopers are continuing the investigation and urge anyone with further information regarding this incident to contact Troop I at 337-262-5880.
