| TROOP I NEWS RELEASE March 13, 2016 St. Martin Parish Crash Leaves Passenger Dead St. Martin Parish - On March 13, 2016 at 10:22 AM, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred on LA 31 at Cypress Island Extension Road in St. Martin Parish. The crash took the life of 18 year old Juliana Gerami of Lafayette, La.
Mansour was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. Front seat passenger, Juliana Gerami was also wearing a seat belt, but suffered fatal injuries. The St. Martin Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced Gerami dead on scene. Rear seat passenger, 18 year old Samantha Rivero of Lafayette, was also wearing a seat belt and was not injured Impairment is not a factor in the crash. Mansour submitted to a chemical test and was not impaired. Mansour was cited for Careless Operation, however; this crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists of the dangers of distracted driving. Inattentive and distracted drivers account for a large number of serious crashes across the state every year.
