| TROOP I NEWS RELEASE February 12, 2016 Unrestrained Eunice Woman Killed On US 190 in St. Landry Parish St. Landry Parish – Shortly after 4:30 pm, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a single vehicle fatality crash that occurred on US 190 near LA 758 in St. Landry Parish. The crash took the life of 24 year old Shinequia Anderson of Eunice, LA. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that Anderson, was operating a 2005 Ford Escape west on US 190. For unknown reasons, Anderson ran off of the right side of the roadway, traveled through a ditch and struck a culvert. The vehicle began to overturn, ejecting Anderson from the vehicle. Anderson was not wearing a seat belt and suffered fatal injuries. Anderson was pronounced dead on scene by the St. Landry Parish Coroner’s Office. Front seat passenger, 23 year old Keeya Shillow, of Eunice and a juvenile seated in the rear of the vehicle, were not wearing seat belts and sustained moderate injuries. Both Shillow and the juvenile were taken by AirMed to a local hospital for treatment. It is not known if impairment is a factor in the crash. A toxicology sample was taken from Anderson and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists that making good choices while in motor vehicles such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, and avoiding all distractions can often mean the difference between life and death.
