Troopers Investigate Crash That Killed Two Iberia Parish Employees

Iberia Parish- A vehicle crash on US 90 South Service Road has claimed the lives of two Iberia Parish government employees and sent the driver and passenger of a vehicle to local hospitals with moderate injuries.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2006 Mitsubishi Galant, operated by 26-year-old Alicia Marie Mire of New Iberia, was traveling east on the US 90 South Service Road when it drifted onto the south shoulder for reasons under investigation. The Mitsubishi continued on the shoulder for an unknown distance before striking the rear of an Iberia Parish pick-up properly parked on the shoulder of the Service Road with its emergency light activated. After the initial impact, the pick-up truck moved forward, striking the two parish employees, 48-year-old Ross Migues of Lydia and 57-year old Jody Anthony of St. Martinville, causing fatal injuries. The Iberia Parish Coroner’s Office arrived on scene and pronounced Anthony and Migues dead.

Mire and her passenger were transported to local hospitals with moderate injuries. Mire and her passenger were restrained at the time of the crash. Impairment on Mire is unknown at this time. Routine toxicology samples were taken and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis

This crash remains under investigation.

Speeding and distracted driving continues to be leading factors in injury crashes throughout Acadiana. Watching your speed and paying attention to the roadway can greatly reduce the number of crashes and types of injuries sustained in a crash.
