| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE Unrestrained Driver Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash BATON ROUGE – Shortly after 12:30 p.m. today on LA 16 north of LA 1032 in Livingston Parish, an unrestrained Denham Springs woman was killed when her SUV ran off the road. Christyle Lemenager (W/F, age 55) of Denham Springs, was traveling south on LA 16 in a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer when she ran off the road to the right, struck a culvert, and then struck a tree. Lemenager was not restrained when the crash occurred. Acadian Ambulance Airmed transported Lemenager to Ocshner Hospital, where hospital staff pronounced her deceased due to injuries sustained in the crash. Alcohol is not suspected to have been a factor in the crash. However, State Troopers have submitted a sample of Lemenager’s blood to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis. Louisiana State Troopers have aggressively enforced Louisiana’s primary seat belt law; and Troopers have noticed an increase in seat belt use in the Troop A area over the past few years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that an estimated 270 lives are saved for every one percent increase in seat belt use.
